CMT packet (of dooooooom!)

DISCLAIMER:  I know that this packet is big and evil and you all hate me for giving it to you!  BUT, please know I wouldn't give it to you if it wasn't worthwhile!

Your assignments for the next week and a half are as follows:

Please feel free to do more if you want.  I suggest working on strand 9 if you have extra time OR strands 10, 11, 12, 15 & 21.  Remember that everything needs to be done midweek next week, so extra effort early will pay off!

Coordinate plane

Hey all!  Sorry I haven't posted in a while!  Between snow days and all the crazy weather I've missed some days and haven't been able to stay after school to post like normal!  Sorry!

Today we began working on the coordinate plane, plotting, identifying and working with points (coordinates.)

Tonight's homework is to complete the worksheet on plotting shapes and then finding their areas and perimeters.

Tomorrow we will have an in-class, graded assignment.  It is short and I expect everyone to do really well.  It will be open notebook and you will be able to use a calculator.  You should know how to find the areas and perimeters of squares, rectangles, parallelograms, triangles and basic irregular shapes.

Finding area using various tools and relating area to square units

Today we played with a few different shapes and tools to find area.  You used rulers, square centimeters and rectangles to find areas.  Examples from class are below.

Tonight's homework is to fill in anything you missed from class and complete the last page in the packet as shown below.  If you missed class or were absent, please use the images from above to help you answer the last page to ensure that you are caught up for tomorrow (or whenever we come back to school!)

Tomorrow (or Thursday) we will begin working with parallelograms and the next day will be triangles!

Enjoy your evening and we'll see if we see each other tomorrow!

Weather for tomorrow?

From Gil Simmons:

Bob Maxon says 3-6"

Miss K says that she thinks she won't see you again until Thursday!  Either way, stay safe and warm and I look forward to seeing you when I see you!
