I got nothin', but that's a lot of 1's...

Homework is to study for the vocab quiz (on Thursday or more likely Friday) and to hope for snow!

Geometry terms

PARALLEL - going in the same direction and always being the same distance apart.
PERPENDICULAR – forms a 90 degree angle.

INTERSECT – to meet or cross.

LINE SEGMENT – two endpoints and the straight path between them (a “part of line”).

RAY – a path that extends endlessly from one point in one direction.

LINE - a path that extends endlessly in two opposite directions.

STRAIGHT ANGLE – an angle with a measure of 180º.

RIGHT ANGLE – an angle with a measure of 90º.

ACUTE ANGLE – an angle with a measure between 0º and 90º.

OBTUSE ANGLE – an angle with a measure between 90º and 180º.

REFLEX ANGLE – an angle with a measure between 180º and 360º.

POLYGON – a closed figure made of 3 or more line segments.

TRIANGLE - a polygon with 3 sides and 3 angles.

Classifying Triangles by Sides:

SCALENE TRIANGLE - a triangle with no sides congruent.

ISOSCELES TRIANGLE - a triangle with 2 congruent sides.

EQUILATERAL TRIANGLE – a triangle with all 3 sides congruent

Classifying Triangles by Angles:

RIGHT TRIANGLE - a triangle with one 90º angle.

OBTUSE TRIANGLE – a triangle with one obtuse angle and 2 acute angles.

ACUTE TRIANGLE – a triangle with all acute angles.

QUADRILATERAL - a polygon with 4 sides and 4 angles.

RHOMBUS - a parallelogram with 4 congruent sides and 4 angles.

SQUARE – a parallelogram with 4 congruent sides and 4 right angles.

TRAPEZOID – a quadrilateral with exactly 1 set of parallel sides.

PARALLELOGRAM – a quadrilateral with 2 sets of parallel sides

RECTANGLE- a parallelogram with 4 right angles

PENTAGON - a polygon with 5 sides and 5 angles.

HEXAGON - a polygon with 6 sides and 6 angles.

HEPTAGON - a polygon with 7 sides and 7 angles.

OCTAGON - a polygon with 8 sides and 8 angles.

NONAGON - a polygon with 9 sides and 9 angles.

DECAGON - a polygon with 10 sides and 10 angles.

LINE OF SYMMETRY – a line that divides a shape into 2 halves that match exactly when folded.
