Circumference

We began our circle work today as we talked about circumference...

First we identified the value of pi that we will be using...  3.14  Be sure to type in 3.14 rather than using the pi key when you do your calculations.  :)

Circumference is the distance around a circle, like the perimeter of a circle.
Diameter is the distance across a circle, through the center.  Twice the length of the radius.
Radius is the distance from the center to the edge of a circle.  Half the length of the diameter.

Tonight's homework is worksheet 4-7, all problems.  Use the formulas from class and on the back of the sheet to help you solve the problems and remember to use 3.14 for pi and to use a calculator for your work!

Additional notes and information on circumference from Mr. Glosser's Math Goodies.

Explanation and game: KnowledgeBox Math Games (click on the kid to shoot! The longer you hold it the further is goes)

Information and an interactive circle that shows you how values change as a circle increases or decreases in size. From Math Warehouse.

(ignore the area part for now...)

Best of luck on the homework!

-Miss K  :)
